On Saturday it was claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers may never be able to secure a work permit for January capture David Wang.

The 19-year-old attacking winger is pretty highly rated and featured in the Guardian’s 60 Best Football Talents list back in 2017 and with our tie in with Spanish side FC Jumilla, we brought him into the Molineux back in January – signing him up to a four and a half year deal.

Upon his arrival, he was quickly loaned back out to Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon and he spent the second half of the 2018/19 campaign training with their B team without making an appearance it seems.

Over the weekend the Birmingham Mail stated that a source close to the Spanish born player, who holds a Chinese passport, would have massive difficulty in attaining a work permit for the UK given the current rules.

Despite the Chinese passport issue, being born in Spain I assumed would take precedence but clearly not.
